Winter is Coming...

This pic was captured at the top of Revelstoke Mountain Resort on August 22nd. Is is a harbinger of the season to come? A canary in the coal mine of seasons? With all the talk of an epic winter storm cycle brewing for this upcoming season, images like this are exciting to see but painful when the skier in me realizes that Winter is still far on the horizon. But we take solace in the truth that it is always snowing somewhere and...Winter is coming.

2016-17 Farmers Almanac predicts a colder and snowier BC!

Was this year's Almanac authored by skiers?

2016-17 Farmers Almanac predicts a colder and snowier BC! No video selected.

Farmers across North America are toiling over the latest edition of the much revered and hottly contested Farmer's Almanac. They debate it's accuracy, tout facts of years gone by and start planning for the harvest to come. Much of the same activity is done by skiers when this hallowed book is released.

You see, this time of year, skiers have had enough of summer. Memories of the past season are starting to go stale. We are inundated with ski movie trailer after ski movie trailer. We are ready for any news that will give us a glimpse of what the next season will bring. So naturally, we look to farmers. Seriously, who wouldn't trust the farmer pictured above?

So here it is, the publication that we will hang on to until the snow starts to fall. The 2016-17 Extened Forecast from The Farmer's Almanac:

Get your stoke stoked with MSP's new trailer for Ruin and Rose

This one looks like it is going to be nuts...

We've been watching MSP Films since they started back in the day. Every summer we sit back and think, "what are they going to do this season?". There seems to be more and more movie being produced, technology is moving at lightspeed, every kid on the hill is producing an "Edit", and yet, MSP does it again. They put out three minutes of visual opiate that gets us jonesin' for more. I guess until Fall we will just keep this trailer on repeat.

Enjoy :)

The 2015-2016 season was epic, especially at Selkirk Snowcat Skiing

"It's my favorite place on Earth..."

Yup, it was epic alright. Check out this video wrap of from Selkirk Snowcat Skiing. They had a drone out showing the massive expanse of their terrain as well as some up close pow shots. The guest at the end of the video puts the exclamation point on this video with an emotiona, "It's my favorite place on Earth..."

We got to ski the last three days of the season and it was unreal. Can't wait to see what next season brings to Selkirk Snowcat Skiing.

Enjoy

Keefer Lake Catskiing stoke in early June

New sign and fresh pow in Junuary 2016!

Keefer Lake Catskiing stoke in early June No video selected.

We were cruising back from some work in the backcountry the other day when we passed the turn off to BC's newest catskiing operator Keefer Lake Catskiing. They've installed a shiny new sign on the side of the highway so of course we had to stop and take a selfie!

This must be a "good sign" because a few days later is dumped a good amount of Junaury snow on the local mountains.

Happy Earth Day 2016!

We love skiing one you Earth

Happy Earth Day 2016! No video selected.

Today is the day we celebrate our home planet and bring awareness to taking care of this rock we call home. Us skiers have a different perspective on the planet and the environment. While there are lots of theories and politics on what is happening with the climate, there is no doubt that we must be better stewards of where we live. We think that if more people got out into the backcountry and experienced the wild, they would have more awareness of taking care.

So get outside, enjoy the day and Happy Earth Day 2016!
