Early season is shaping up nicely at Mustang Powder Catskiing
We woke up this morning to a nice little email from our friend Mark at Mustang Powder. Apparently things are looking pretty sweet today (as you can see in the photo above!) This picture was taken on November 10th, 2011 from the deck of the Mustang Powder Lodge. They are sitting around a 1 Metre base and climbing. According to Mark's report, they have the cats tracked up, the guest passenger boxes are getting installed and the finishing touches on a few lodge upgrades are nearing completion. All to create the best guest experience possible!
Mustang Powder Catskiing has their first trips heading out in about 3 weeks. We have skied early season at Mustang and it does not disappoint. The range they are in seems to get copious amounts of snow even if there aren't any signs of the white fluffy stuff in the valley.
Join us at the movie premier tonight in Kelowna BC and WIN!

Enter your email address and you can win a 2 day catskiing trip to Selkirk Wilderness Skiing! Pretty low commitment eh? Oh, and here is a list of all the other stuff they are giving away:
5 day trip to Alyeska with 2 days heli skiing with CPG for 2 people
Legs of Steel gives us this free viewing of their latest film.
All pre-season we have been going to the movie premiers in hopes of seeing some sick segments documenting this past season's La Nina storms. Although we have seen a few little snipits here and there, the footage in the Legs of Steel - Nothing Else Matters is the one to be topped! It features some DEEP powder shots from BC's very own Selkirk Wilderness Skiing, Stellar Heliskiing and Monashee Powder Cats.
One warning, there is a fair amount of park stuff in this video but if you can make it through, the powder is worth it! Hey, it's FREE!
Enjoy.

Jon Olsson Settles for this humble Lamborghini Gallardo
When we saw this we knew we had to post it. Jon Olsson is known for driving supercars as his daily driver and has had Lamborhinis in the past. But this one trumps all of those! He was waiting for the all-new, much anticipated Aventador but decided to get an interim ride instead of renting all the time. Here is what he had to say:
"As you all know I have been debating on winter cars for a quite a while. As the seems Aventador seems to taking a while and there has come a few other alternatives into the picture I decided to get something temporary. When I saw the "temporary car" I was actually stoked that the Aventador was running late! I think this this thing tuned out sick! Best of all, no more rental cars!!!! This thing is 100% ready to be driven 50 000km this winter!"
We don't know about you but I think we will stick with our cars and spend the $100,000 + in saving on chasing storms and Catskiing all winter!
Here are a few more pics for your drooling pleasure:

The Pureplus Merino Jacket brings a little class along with fit and performance
It's is ski movie premier season and that means digging through the closet for your favorite technical top, vest or jacket to wear. You know what I am talking about, you pull that sticky poly top and peel it over your head and you're good to go. Well this season we have some advice: Get yourself an Icebreaker Pureplus Merino Jacket and hit the movies with some style. You'll still get the respect of a techie outdoorsman trust us. It's Icebreaker man! You can wear it all season and it won't even stink (we have done this test, it is true!)
What we got our hands on is the new for Fall Icebreaker Pureplus 380 Merino Jacket. Icebreaker has upped their game again this season bringing a new level of style and sophistication to their line-up of merino products. The Pureplus Jacket is one of the most comfortable jackets we have tried in a long time. This is due in part because of Icebreaker's familiar fit and cut but also to the fully lined interior of the jacket. It just slides on and forms to the body.

This jacket is super versatile too. It looks good enough to dress up and go out in the evening, wear it with work clothes during the week and the head out into the elements on the weekends. The jacket is designed to keep you cozy in the wild and windy weather that these shoulder seasons tend to throw at us.
We are off to the first of the many ski movie premiers this evening. Tonight it is Sherpas Cinemas "All.I.Can" followed by TGR's "One for the Road" You will know who we are, we will be the ones sporting the latest from Icebreaker and we won't stink!
And yes, it features some mind blowing catskiing powder!
Well, we heard rumours about Season 5 of Salomon Freeski TV being even better than last year. We saw the trailer back in mid-summer teasing us about the past La Nina season. Now we have the full first episode of Season 5 and it is mind blowing! The deepness of the powder is incredible, the lines they are taking are perfect and the inventive camera angles add to all that is awesome about this video.
What's even cooler? All of this happened in our own backyard. BC was the place to ski last season and if all the predictions are correct, it will be the place to ski this winter too! Check out the footage from our friends at Big Red Cats as well as Revelstoke and Whistler Resort. Kieren Gaul from Big Red Cats told us in a recent phone conversation that Mike Douglas and the group from Salomon Freeski TV were the most tuned in and professional shooting crew they have ever encountered. We can see why, the proof is in the video above. Can't wait for Episode 2!
